Discussion on the financial benefits of doing MBA
As far as my knowledge goes. The monetary benefits after MBA ain’t that great for ppl like us.
But it is very useful if we want a career change.
Look at any MBA graduate. Their career is totally different after doing MBA.
Don’t be under the assumption that your job will be exciting after you do MBA.
The kind of job you get after MBA depends on your work ex.
If you want a pay hike after MBA you must continue in your sector.
Sector jump wont do you any good.

I didn't get you? monetary benefits after MBA are not that good for people like us?? I dont agree........
if not our kinda ppl .... who else .......the life is there now in our field.......so MBA is apt for us..
it all depends on the kind of college u r from. if u r from a so so college so will be ur pay and so will be ur career.....
its not a new thing it has been the way since our school days........so want to have advantage of MBA it has to be from a good b-school.......
it may be a fact that there are many exceptions (possible).......but we need not be an exception.......we have to be exceptional...
what ever may be ur talent the brand makes a difference......and so go for the best.........
so I think there are its own pros and cons for doing MBA. but it would always be a value add for us.......
i would like to ask one thing to all.......why to start with "Why doing MBA?" ..... I suggest we start with what we want to do in our life......
if then we can decide on why MBA........may be we r not ready to do MBA but being carried away(possible)......
so lets have a clear idea on what we wanna do in life....then we can go further....

Hey Nalli dont get angry rey. Assy was talking like that about monetary benefits of MBA right from day one [That is from that day when we started preparing for CAT]. It may be that
Assy did not talk to the correct kind of people or we are wrong ourselves in estimating the financial benefits of doing an MBA. Whatever it is, I am pretty much sure that what we
would be earning after doing an MBA would be atleast the same as what we are earning now if not more :). Because, in IMS the center manager in a class room discussion said this,
may be you would not get a very high pay after completing PGDBM from IIMs but it would be atleast greater than your previous salary. What he meant by this was, You may not be earning
12 lakhs per annum after an MBA from IIM but if your salary was 4 lakhs before joining IIM then atleast you would be earning 5 lakhs (That was what happened to him).
And he went on to say that, this might mean you would be earning less than what you be if you continued for those 2 years in that same company [i.e. salary increase could have
been greater]. Also, talking about monetary benefits I would just say this... even the lowest salary from Harvard is $30K per annum. This is much much low compared to being a
system administrator, who would be earning $60K per annum. But if every one who joins Harvard gets the same amount of salary would anyone even think of joining Harvard? Why
are people crazy about it then? Because the average pay comes to $120K dollars per annum. Now this is what most of them see and not the lowest amount possible because most of them
who join that university are aware of their capabilities. Same is the case with IIMs. Also we should notice another point too, the largest recruiter in IITs is Infosys and the likes. Now
do people stop doing engg because the pay of Infy is less and the better paying companies take only good people and hence there is no monetary benefit in doing engg from IIT as such.
So, I am not as pessimistic as Assy is about the monetary benefits of doing an MBA. I am pretty sure we would be earning better after doing an MBA.
Finally, Money [though the major one] is not just the only factor for doing an MBA, there are many more factors which makes it a better career choice compared to that of a software engg,
which we can formally discuss in the blog rather than writing mails to each other.

areh....lets see what we want out of our life then think of this......
as we have started to analyse from that ...start from much basic thing...this will even help us in understanding ourselves ...
essays have a major impact on the admission......

Rey nalli, you seem to be concentrating on the formal essay writing type of thing here... understand, we can keep such things to some other time and right now I do not understand the point about why we should not discuss this here. Because what anyone would like to achieve is his/her personal choice. So, why would you like to know about what bolli or assy would like to do. Say making money may someone's choice and he would find this post interesting, because he would come to know how he would be making more/less money doing an MBA. As such bolero already said he did not decide on why he would like to do MBA and he was interested in knowing the monetary aspects too... so let us discuss this for the next two weeks.
